So excited that Melissa Harris-Perry’s Sister Citizen will be out this fall. She’s been birthing this one for a minute, but it will be a game changer for the study of black women’s politics. It makes me remember all the moments that she told me about bits and pieces of the work. The walk around my neighborhood when she talked about the concept of the crooked room, the imagining of Janie and Tea-Cake as a political story, laughing about those pink heels on BET… I can’t wait to see all those amazing ideas in one place, bound as a second book.
